Size may or may not always really matter, but one size seldom fits all. When it comes to communication and connection, the medium sometimes IS the message. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn,, Squidoo, Tumblr, Digg, StumbleUpon, and all the other social networking and internet dating sites are a great way to meet or stay in touch with people (all over the world), BUT facing a computer and typing is NOT the same as talking face to face with people in person – or having an “offline” relationship. Perhaps like most Meetup members, we need to remember that connecting in a virtual world is not a substitute for meeting in the real one.

Life may be many things, but most are measured in time. Every moment is, literally, the time of our lives! While we do not always make the “best” use of it (in a “timely” manner), most people are at least aware of and are able to appreciate the “passage” of time – and, on some level, realize that NOW is all there is. In the respect of an eternal present moment, time does not exist – and yet humans have created numerous incredibly elaborate methods and systems of categorizing and recording time. It sometimes seems like our culture “worships” time (and money). The concept of time that sometimes seems to vary the most is the (yearly) calendar.

Life often seems to throw things at us – perhaps to let us know we’re still alive. How we perceive and react to these things is a choice.
Life always offers (at least three) options. We may choose from the (three) most obvious options, create one(s) of our own, or refuse to choose – which is actually a choice in itself (to not actively select, reject, or create an alternative, but, instead, to passively accept whatever we get).

In every human population, there are around 10% who have, or will, put helping others in need or at risk above their own safety (or own group identity)

Do not judge those who try and fail; judge those who fail to try.
Many people do not like the word “try”, claiming, like Yoda (of Star Wars fame) that “there is no ‘try’; there is only do and not do”. Yet in addition to merely “attempt”, “try” has other meanings (and motives) – worth considering.
